Our Beliefs
Oak Mountain is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA), which means we draw our beliefs not just from what we think (or what one pastor says), but from a long line of Christians thinking deeply about what the Bible says and means for us.
We believe God is the supreme authority throughout the universe, who invites us into a dynamic relationship. Our knowledge of God and God's purpose for humanity comes from the Bible, particularly what is revealed in the New Testament through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us that our salvation through Jesus is God's generous gift to us and not the result of our own accomplishments. It is everyone's job - ministers and lay people, men and women - to share God’s love in Jesus Christ with the whole world, by what we do and what we say, empowered and guided by the Holy Spirit.
Now most Christians would agree with that last paragraph! But there are certain things that make us distinctive from other Christians. Click here for some of our distinctive beliefs.
