OAK MOUNTAIN PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
Pastor
Rev. Donald C. Jones
Donnie longs to see lives changed to the glory of God through a God-centered, Christ-exalting, Spirit-driven ministry of the Word and prayer. This calling began when he was a young man growing up in Huntsville, Alabama, where he was converted and established in his walk with Christ through a ministry called Young Life. During these years God worked a strong hunger for His Word into Donnie’s heart.
While a student at the University of Alabama and involved with campus ministry, Donnie was encouraged in his spiritual gift of teaching and wanted to further develop this gift and calling. A zeal for God and a passion for His Word led him to graduate school in New England. He attended Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary on the North Shore of Boston as well as studying briefly at Harvard Divinity School in Cambridge and the Jerusalem Center for Biblical Studies in Israel.
In the summer of 1986 Donnie was called as the organizing pastor of King’s Chapel Presbyterian Church in Carrollton, Georgia. During his 25 years of ministry there God blessed the ministry of His Word and many lives were changed to His glory. In August of 2011 Donnie resigned from King’s Chapel and continued to minister widely until he was called to pastor Oak Mountain Presbyterian in the fall of 2017.
Donnie and his wife, Kelly, have two wonderful daughters, Anna and Piper. Kelly enjoyed her career as a Registered Nurse for many years, and is now a Special Education teacher at Carrollton High School.
